Came across a memo about Flight 2021 on Facebook and thought, "Yes! This last year has been filled with rough takeoffs and landings and much turbulence." For the year of 2021, I am buying a different ticket on a different flight!
"Hello, welcome to Flight #2021
We are prepared to take off into the New Year. Please make sure your Attitude and Blessings are secured and locked in an upright position. All self-destructive devices should be turned off at this time. All negativity, hurt and discouragement should be put away. Should we lose Altitude under pressure, during the flight, reach up and pull down a Prayer. Prayers will automatically be activated by Faith. Once your Faith is activated you can assist other passengers. There will be NO BAGGAGE allowed on this flight. The Captain has cleared us for takeoff.
Destination GREATNESS.
Last year as the flight of 2020 took off, I recall picking one word that I wanted to define the upcoming year. That word was, "resilience". Having experienced my 6th hip surgery right before our lovely pandemic exploded in March, I had readjusted my expectations for my recovery and rolled with it. Also, having had to make some scary decisions for my mom's health (and fortunate recovery) in the height of this pandemic was terrifying for me. I remained resilient. I will continue to be resilient. I am hopeful. I am strong.
This year has also been very hard as I've missed my fellow yogis and their breathing shoulder to shoulder with me. I miss my favorite yoga teacher's reminders of strength over flexibility. Even though I am a yogi through and through, the physical focus of my practice has always been strength over flexibility. In the practice of yoga, flexibility can cause injury if there is not strength to match. I am strong, but my strength is not my flexibility. So my 2021 flight will be to embrace being flexible with my mindset as opposed to a physical aptitude.
What word do you want to focus on this year? Hopeful? Resilient? Courageous? Name it, you have a whole beautiful alphabet of letters to define your attitude. Grab it and secure it for 2021!
