The other day I was driving to a PT appointment. Even though it is an hour drive and I usually love the time to turn on some chill music and relax, this day was different. The landscape was dreary as we are completely covered by haze, smoke and toxins. This whole idea of breathing in deeply and breathing out does not sound appealing. In fact, it sounds downright dangerous given the atmospheric deficits we have here in California. I was, on this particular day, feeling a little doom and gloom. Somehow, my Spotify randomly chose a sentimental song. A song that my son used to be rocked to sleep by. A song that brought me back to a simpler time.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing And what do we think we might see? Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
As I was listening to this song, I realized the whole point of the lyrics is to encourage. To place value in the thoughts we have. To keep looking for that rainbow connection even through the haze of challenges. The song implies to me that the value of positive and hopeful thinking is the main road sign to finding that “rainbow connection”.
It is incredibly easy to settle into a quagmire of toxic thinking and action. It is easy to throw in the towel. It so easy to eat lemons instead of making lemonade. It is easy to sulk and lower your chin. It is hard and, sometimes, downright treacherous to keep looking for the rainbow when all you see is gray clouds. But, I promise, somewhere there is a rainbow and you will find it. You will fly through the gray clouds and see the rainbow of hope, optimism and confident healing.
All of us under its spell We know that it's probably magic Have you been half asleep, and have you heard voices? I've heard them calling my name Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors? The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it It's something that I'm supposed to be
